Atkin and Thyme debut at Decorex show

Atkin & Thyme, a furniture brand founded in 2014, is set to make its Decorex debut this October. The brand will be collaborating with Jordan Larmour, Founder of Studio Larmour, who will serve as the Design Director for the Decorex stand.

Larmour’s approach to designing the stand was not just about creating an exhibition space, but about understanding the brand’s identity and values. He notes that Atkin & Thyme’s collection has a strong sense of heritage and timeless silhouettes, which resonated with him.

The stand’s design concept is centered around creating a feeling of stepping into a home, rather than a traditional exhibition space. Larmour aimed to create a contemporary apartment that feels personal, lived in, and layered over time.

The architecture of the stand draws inspiration from traditional English interiors, with a ceiling that takes cues from exposed timber beams and a gridded composition reminiscent of Victorian ceiling mouldings. Full height drapery softens the space, offering a subtle nod to the fabrics and fabric-lined walls of English homes.

Visitors to the stand will have the opportunity to experience a curated selection of Atkin & Thyme’s collections firsthand. The brand’s focus on craftsmanship, materials, and details will be on display, showcasing the timeless foundation that their designs provide.

Larmour explains that the collection doesn’t ask visitors to build an interior around trends, but rather provides a foundation that allows their own personality to develop around it. The materials have a permanence to them, and many of the pieces carry a character that feels as though they could have been inherited rather than newly purchased.

Despite the stand’s relatively small footprint of 9 meters by 3 meters, Larmour aimed to create an immersive experience that makes visitors feel as though they’re in a real home. He hopes that visitors will leave feeling like they’ve experienced something genuinely memorable, rather than just viewing a furniture display.
